The Rib Mountain Ski Club
Your Wausau, WI Ski Club since 1927
The Rib Mountain Ski Club Inc. was founded in 1927 and incorporated in 1936 and has been continuously offering outdoor winter recreational fun! Currently the Rib Mountain Ski Club provides individuals and families the opportunity to partake in very reasonably priced downhill skiing programs throughout Wisconsin. The members have come together to promote skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing for people of all ages.
The members of the Rib Mountain Ski Club assist with the upcoming years winter activities as well as the annual Wausau Ski Swap of new and used skiing and snowboarding equipment. Through our fundraising efforts at our annual Wausau Ski Swap, the Rib Mountain Ski Club is able to substantially subsidize these ski trips.
In the past the Rib Mountain Ski Club has offered downhill skiing trips to such ski areas as:
Granite Peak Big Powderhorn Porcupine Mountain
Indianhead WhiteCap Devils Head
BlackJack Ski Brule Wild Mountain
Many of our members enjoy our annual ski swap where they are able to buy and sell ski equipment for their changing family needs.
The Rib Mountain Ski Club also supports ski related community events such as the Badger State Games and the popular Ski For Youth. Some of our members are also part of the Granite Peak Ski Team which is an organization that promotes alpine, downhill racing.

WHY JOIN RIB MOUNTAIN SKI CLUB?
Because it is FUN!
We are a family oriented Club devoted to winter sports – especially skiing and snowboarding. While many also participate in cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and hockey, we all find the need to be active in winter!
HOW DOES RIB MOUNTAIN SKI CLUB WORK?
As a non-stock not-for-profit club, our members ‘own’ the Club. It is the members who then elect a Board of Directors to create and vitalize the Club.
Rib Mountain Ski Club is an all volunteer organization and your participation in Club activities is not required but helping with your club gets you less expensive ski trips. Your participation in Club events brings about new friendships, stronger bonds among friends and a greater sense of community. Participation in the governance of the Club has even more benefits.
WHAT DOES RIB MOUNTAIN SKI CLUB DO?
We strive to generate four or more downhill ski trips a year throughout the winter months. These ski trips typically are in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and Minnesota.
In addition, the Club holds an annual Ski Swap in conjunction with the Wausau Nordic Ski Club. This ski swap substantially funds club activities, especially the ski trips. Further, the Ski Swap is a great place to sell your old equipment and purchase replacement and new equipment.
OK, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN?
For the 2016/2017 Ski Club year the cost to join the Rib Mountain Ski Club will be $15.00 for a single individual and $30.00 for families with two or more people in the same household.
You can register on-line on our membership page and pay with a credit card or you can mail in your registration and pay with a check.
We also have on-line or mail-in registration for our ski trips.
HOW MUCH ARE SKI TRIPS?
The net profit from the Ski Swap allows us to substantially underwrite a large portion of each Ski Trip, our event dinners and general operating expenses of the Club.
For the 2017-2018 season, a RMSC Ski Trip will run $25.00 per member. We suggest 5 hours of your time to help out at the ski swap or on a different committee in order to keep our club running.
This typically includes:
- Round-trip bus motor coach transportation
- Ski lift ticket
- Après snack on the ride home
While gas and resort ticket prices have
gone up the Club will continue to provide the best possible deal to club members. Nowhere can you find such a deal!
Remember, these trip prices are subject to change, but the $25.00 trip price has been approved by the board for the 2017/2018 ski season.
